OUR STORY
Nordic Vans is based in Bellingham, Washington a town known for its epic mountain biking and legendary Mt. Baker snowfall. We specialize in converting Mercedes Sprinters, Ford Transits and even VW buses into camper vans. Our mission is to build vans that get people out in nature to pursue their passions. Our story begins like many great tales, with an old VW bus. This bus was special because of its family heritage, having been used for 30 years as a mobile basecamp for natural sound ecologist, Gordon Hempton, the Soundtracker. Gordon happens to be my father-in-law and our chapter with the bus began the new years day he gifted it to us. He said “the bus isn’t getting the use it deserves and could use some love”. My wife and I excitedly accepted and ended up restoring the bus building it into a roadtrip worthy vessel, in secret. The joy of unveiling it to him was well worth our labors. The bus was designed as an ode to the sailing ships of old with teak and brass cabinetry and is a testament to those of us who long to sail forbidden seas!

The crAFTSMEN behind the vAn’S
Nordic Van’s was founded by Evan & Shawn who are both uncompromising purest's when it comes to constructing the perfect van. From sunrise to sunset they are dreaming up innovative ways to improve their craft and deliver vans that push boundaries and change lives. Evan has an industrial design background with many years spent in product design and a youth spent in Port Townsend restoring Victorian homes. Shawn brings his mechanical and engineering expertise to the team and a keen ability to simplify complex systems. When they’re not building vans you can find them in the hills and mountains of the PNW pedaling their mountain bikes or dropping powdery Mt. Baker chutes on their snowboards. They hope to cross paths with you soon!
